Dr. Angelo Colavita

Dr. Covino

Dr. Angelo Colavita is board certified and licensed to practice chiropractic in New Jersey and New York. He has been in private practice since 1998 and currently practices in Clifton, New Jersey.

Education

  • Dr. Colavita graduated Magna Cum Laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in February 1998.
  • He received his Board Certification in the Atlas Orthogonal Program through Sherman College of Chiropractic in 1998.
  • He is an advanced Spine Research Institute of San Diego 10th Annual Scientific Conference graduate.
  • Dr. Colavita trained directly under Roy W. Sweat, the inventor of the Atlas Orthogonal Technique, and one of the foremost authorities in the field.
  • Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic Post Graduate Training since 1998.

Teaching

Dr. Colavita is an adjunct professor at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. He is an adjunct professor at Sherman College of Chiropractic in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Dr. Colavita is an adjunct professor at Life College West in Hayward, California. Dr. Colavita teaches biannually at the Advanced Atlas orthogonal Conference in Atlanta, Georgia and annually at the Montreal Advanced Atlas Orthogonal. Conference, the Washington State Advanced Atlas Orthogonal Conference, as well as the California Advanced Atlas Orthogonal Conference.

Awards

  • Dr. Colavita was awarded numerous scholarships and achievement awards for academic excellence while attending Palmer College of Chiropractic.
  • In May 2003, Dr. Colavita was presented with the R.W. Sweat Research Foundation Achievement Award for his extensive clinical research.
  • In 2004 and in 2009, Dr. Colavita was recognized as a Top Chiropractor in America by the Consumer Research Council of America.
  • In 2020, the R W Sweat Research Foundation recognized him as Chiropractor of the Year.

  • Pi Tau Delta International Chiropractic Honor Society.
  • Board of Directors of the Trauma Imaging Foundation, serving as Treasurer.
  • He is on the Board of Directors of the R.W. Sweat Research Foundation, serving as Chairman of the Ethics Committee.

Research Projects/Accomplishments

  • In August 2005, Dr. Colavita was involved in Human Subject Automobile Crash Testing Research through the Center for Research into Automotive Safety and Health.
  • In 2020, Dr. Colavita invented a patent-pending collar for spinal alignment.
  • Dr. Colavita is currently conducting research with Dr. Scott Rosa using Upright MRI to study the efficacy of the Atlas Orthogonal treatment.

Publications

Dr. Colavita was the largest contributing researcher of the published article, “Resolutions of Cervical Complications Secondary to Motor Vehicle Accidents by the Application of Stereotactic Cervical Alignment (SCALE) Methods: Statistical Review of 54 Patients” in the Journal of Whiplash & Related Disorders, Vol. 5(1) 2006.

Is a contributing author to the Atlas Orthogonal Technique Text, third edition. Has written and produced educational booklets that are used by doctors throughout the country.

The author of the published article, “Craniocervical Misalignment Masquerading as Facial Pain: Options for Diagnosis and Management” in the Cranio: Journal of Craniomandibular & Sleep Practice Vol.38 No. 6 2020

Notable Lectures

Dr. Colavita lectures internationally and throughout the United States on the Cranio Cervical Junction and Atlas Orthogonal Technique.

He has lectured for the International Chiropractic Association Upper Cervical Diplomat Program multiple times.
